Welcome to Juniper Grove Counseling. I am so happy you are here! My name is Alyssa Black. As a mom and LCSW, I understand firsthand the struggles many parents face. I believe in a warm, empathetic, and supportive approach to treatment with solutions that help you feel better and live the life you want to live. I specialize in treating trauma, perinatal mental health, and women's issues including survivors of domestic violence. My approach to treatment is eclectic in nature, so I pull from multiple modalities to meet you where you are and give you specialized treatment tailored to you and your unique needs. I am trained in both EMDR and ART and frequently utilize both modalities to benefit my clients. In addition, I utilize CBT, ACT, DBT, SFBT, and psychodynamic therapy to help as well. I believe in treating the whole person--you as an individual--not just a client or a diagnosis.
In my free time, I love to spend time with my kids, be outside, bake yummy treats, watch shows, and take baths. I also have recently gotten into embroidery, so I do love "grandma hobbies" as well. If you think I might be a good fit for you, please reach out!
My Story
I graduated from Utah State University in 2019 with a Bachelor's degree in Family Life Studies/Human Development and a minor in Communication Studies. I did my senior practicum at Wasatch Behavioral Health as a crisis case manager. I then went on to complete my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Utah in 2023, and have been in private practice ever since. I have children and love being a mom, and I understand uniquely the challenges that motherhood faces. I also am a NICU mom and understand the stress and trauma that can stem from experiencing the NICU. This experience really focused my sights on continuing to treat trauma but also to specialize in perinatal mental health in general, because moms matter too. I'd love to work with you!
